The Three Period Lesson: A Key Part of The Montessori Method

Montessori is the name of founder this method, that is Maria Montessori.

The Montessori Method is founded on Maria Montessori’s educational philosophy.

The teacher’s role is to prepare the classroom, and observe and guide their students in their learning. As a result, children progress at their own pace, according to their own abilities.

Children are free to choose and work on activities at their own pace. Here, they experience a combination of freedom and self-discipline, as guided by the environment and the teacher.

Through work in the Montessori environment, children learn to develop concentration, self-discipline, and a love of learning.

1st Period: Name

This period is activities about mentioned what the name of subject that pointed by the teachers.

For example, when the teachers shows a cow image, then student should answer 'that is cow'.

 

2nd Period: Recognition

After the teacher give materials about what the name of some subject, in this period the students are asked to indicate a name of a subject.

For example, when the teacher said 'show me a cow', so the students are pointed a cow image.

 

3rd Period: Recall

Recall is the activity whereas the students mentioning the name of the subject that was previously taught
